The IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) is excited to be launching a new global task force for young professionals working in marine conservation: the IUCN WCPA Young Professionals Marine Task Force (YPMTF).
This Task Force was created by the WCPA Marine Group in partnership with WCPA YP, with the purpose of supporting the Commission's excellent work on marine conservation and providing a stronger global profile for a growing global network of YPs working to fulfil the Commission objectives on marine conservation worldwide.
The YPMTF was first established at the 2014 IUCN World Parks Congress (WPC) in Sydney, Australia and then formally recognised at the WCPA Steering Committee Meeting in April 2015.

The Task Force will be led by Co-Vice Chairs Mariasole Bianco and Katherine Zischka, who are active members of WCPA Marine and WCPA YP (find out more about the Co-Vice Chairs below*). The Co-Vice Chairs will be supported by Rebecca Koss who is a marine scientist and co-leader for the IUCN Task Force on the Intergenerational Partnership for Sustainability (IUCN IPS).
Join the YP Marine Task Force
As part of this launch, the YPMTF is inviting young professionals (maximum 35 years of age) who are working in marine conservation and are interested in becoming active members of the Task Force to apply now.
The invitation is extended to existing members of the WCPA YP Group who are working in marine conservation, as well as all other young professionals who have passion, knowledge and experience in broad areas of marine conservation including marine science, management, policy, law, communication, education and outreach.
The group acknowledges the dynamic synergies that occur when networks of inspired YPs work together, with each other and in intergenerational partnership for social transformation and effective conservation of marine environments.
