IUCN/Google Earth announce training opportunity at WCC

Google Earth Outreach and IUCN are searching for a few qualified individuals to participate in a Google Earth and Maps Trainer Workshop at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Barcelona. This 1-day training workshop will take place on Saturday, 04 October, and all participants will be expected to spend a few hours the following week - during the World Conservation Forum - serving as resources for walk-in assistance and demonstration, in collaboration with Google Earth Outreach staff. The long-term goal is for participants, representing all regions of the world, to serve as active focal points for encouraging and enabling the conservation community to make optimal use of Google Earth and Maps as a communications and outreach tool.

To participate, you must meet the following minimum criteria:

- Familiarity with Google Earth and Maps
- At least three years of GIS, web, or database experience
- Ability to work in English
- Travel, accommodation, and WCC registration fees paid from other source (we regret that we cannot provide travel support for this workshop)

If you meet the minimum criteria, please complete the attached form and send it, along with a CV, to wcc.getraining@gmail.com by 29 August. Your answers to these questions will help us to select participants and tailor the training to meet your needs.

We will inform those accepted by 05 September. Participants will be given a Certificate of Participation and will join a growing global network of professionals using Google Earth and Maps to communicate critical conservation issues.
